Respect at Work is 8
It’s birthday month once again, that makes this our 85th blog/respectful insight since December 2017
8 years, how cool, that makes this our 85th blog/respectful insight since December 2017. Most of them still come with a little imposter syndrome, sometimes we are our own worst enemies, I stand confidently in front of any group to generate and facilitate conversations and yet the monthly (ish) putting 500 (ish) of my own words to paper feels slightly indulgent. When I started Respect at Work, I was told that to grow a business you MUST post on social media at least once a month, and always engage with Linked In etc. Well, what can I say, I’ve almost followed these rules, and has my business grown - yes it has.
8 years in, I consider myself to be extremely lucky, I have a job that I love. I look forward to coming to my office just as much as I love engaging with training participants. Whether I am prepping a staff or leadership training session, a one-on-one coaching, or a workplace mediation this tailoring of content is my favourite thing to do. My next favourite thing is delivering that content and seeing/feeling it resonate with participants.
2025 has felt a little different than previous years, it feels like I have had less travel (although last year was a huge travel year), and I’ve delivered more on-line trainings than ever before, I’ve also had some more specialised content requests which have been fun to complete. I worked with a business consultant (shout out to Tasmanian Business Advice Service | Tasmanian Business Advice Service) earlier this year to develop a 5/10-year plan (I’m starting to think about my transition to retirement). This was an excellent process, and my consultant Rob assisted me to really examine Respect at Work the business - breaking down everything I do into bite size chunks was surprising, empowering, and exciting. It was also motivating, and my plan for the potentially quieter December/January weeks is to develop a series of 15-minute webinars for those organisations that logistically struggle to coordinate face-to-face or longer training sessions but still need/want to provide learning opportunities for their staff. Hopefully, I will have these available on my website by February
On another note, I’m committing myself to a 21-day ethics reboot, I receive an email each day with a different topic (gratitude, patience, humility etc), here is the link if anyone is interested Sign up now for Ethics Reboot - Free Online Course
